Fostering process: (stage two)

During stage two of the process you will be allocated an experienced fostering worker who will work with you to complete your comprehensive assessment report. They will visit you on a regular basis in order to complete the assessment. This will include interviewing everyone who lives in your household, including your children and the people that you nominated as your referees.

During this time we will get to know all about you and for you to learn more about the benefits of fostering  with Birmingham children’s Trust.

When the report is produced you are given opportunity to read and comment on it.

Fostering Panel

  • you’ll be invited to the Fostering Panel meeting with your social worker with you for support
  • the Fostering Panel will make a recommendation about your suitability
  • the final decision is made by the Agency Decision Maker who is a senior officer of Birmingham Childrens Trust with expertise in fostering

After approval

Once you are approved as a foster carer you will be assigned to one of our four support teams and will be allocated your own support social worker. They will be someone who is an experienced fostering social worker who will be able to ensure that you are ready for your first foster placement. When ready, your name will be added to our vacancy list which we refer to for potential foster carers of all children who need a foster home.
