Support and training for our foster carers

You’ll be allocated your own dedicated supervising social worker, who’ll support and advise you throughout your fostering journey

Support available to you includes:

  • telephone support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year
  • access support from colleagues in health, education and children’s services including Therapeutic, emotional support services (TESS)
  • psychological assessment and therapeutic support from our in house clinical psychologists
  • monthly support groups where carers meet and discuss matters and support each other
  • support, advice and training from Birmingham Foster Care Association, a charity run and staffed by Birmingham foster carers
  • buddy and mentoring groups are available for newer carers or where we feel you would benefit from support from an experienced foster carer
  • you’ll be entitled to all membership benefits of Foster Talk
