Protecting your personal data

Under data protection law, Parents and Childrens Together (PACT) needs your consent to process your personal data for the purpose of providing access to a web-based adoption support platform, the Adopter Hub.

In order to access an online Adopter Hub membership, you will need to provide PACT with your full name and email address. You are not obliged to provide this information but if you refuse you will not have access to an online user account for The Adopter Hub. If you do not wish to provide your data, it will not affect any other services you are accessing through Birmingham Children’s Trust. 

If you do consent to share your personal data with PACT, you can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting PACT.

How information about you will be used

Purposes of the processing for which the personal data are intended (Article 13(1)(c))

Your information will be processed by PACT so that they can give you access to The Adopter Hub.

Birmingham Children’s Trust will provide PACT with the following data so that they can set up your Adopter Hub memberships:

  • Name
  • Email address

The Trust will provide you with a unique code, which will originate from PACT. You can use this code to access PACT's login-in page where you will enter personal data (your name and email address). Birmingham Children’s Trust will not process any data. If you are  unsure of your unique code, PACT will verify your user account with the Trust’s Authorised Officer.

The Trust can support registered users however PACT maintains the responsibility of processing and controlling personal data.

PACT will have responsibility for the legality, reliability, integrity, accuracy and quality of the personal data of registered adopters using the Adopter Hub.

Birmingham Children’s Trust Adoption Service will hold your information for six years.

Your Rights

You are entitled to know what personal data Birmingham Children’s Trust is processing about you. If you want to obtain the data, or if you want to exercise any of your other rights about the processing of the data.

You can contact the Data Protection Officer via email at:  dpo@birminghamchildrenstrust.co.uk

You have the right to:

  • have your personal data corrected if it is inaccurate or incomplete
  • ask for your personal data used for this purpose to be erased (even if you have previously given consent for the data to be processed by the Trust
  • ask for your personal data to be supplied in a commonly used format, where the processing is carried out by automated means, so it can be sent to another organisation

You can also ask for the processing of your personal data to be restricted if:

  • it is inaccurate
  • it is unlawful but you do not want it to be deleted
  • it is due to be deleted but you require it kept because of a legal claim
  • you have objected to the processing of the data and you are waiting for a decision about the objection

You can ask the Trust to stop processing your data at any time by withdrawing your consent. You can do this by the same method you gave us the information or by contacting the Data Protection Officer.
