Overnight and other services

Please note: Children can only be referred into these services by the families social worker.

Residential

The Trust can offer residential short breaks in one of their disabled children’s residential homes. These homes are staffed by trained and experienced carers and can offer children staying with them a range of fun activities and social experiences.

  • Warwick House in Acocks Green and Charles House in West Heath provide short breaks for children with a range of learning disabilities including Autism who they may also display associated challenging behaviour and have health conditions that need management and support. The children also receive support with emotional wellbeing, keeping healthy and managing their behaviour through a range of fun, socially inclusive activities.
  • Edgewood Road in Hawksley provides short breaks for children with a disability and additional nursing needs which can range from children on growth hormones, tracheotomy care, suctioning, diabetes and stoma care. The children also receive support with emotional well-being, health and social needs.

Fostering

The Trust works with an established National Fostering Agency to be able to offer over night and daytime stays for children with complex needs with a range of highly experienced, skilled and compassionate carers. The service aims to match children to specific carers over a long period of time, so that the child is able to become familiar with those carers and build trusting relationships, offering parents and carers peace of mind.

Intensive Family Support

The Trust works with a national charity to offer a specialised intensive family support service. The aim is to prevent breakdown of care and minimise disruption to family life. It does this by enabling families to develop their own strategies to manage complex family problems while also assisting the children in accessing mainstream provision or other services for disabled children and young people where appropriate. This service also provides family group conferencing as required.
