Help us to change a future this Foster Care Fortnight
Help us change a child's future this Foster Care Fortnight.
We're supporting this year's Foster Care Fortnight 2019 campaign to change a future. Organised by the Fostering Network, Foster Care Fortnight 2019 focuses on the huge difference foster carers make to the lives of the children and young people they care for.
Members of our Adoption and Fostering team have been out and about around our offices to promote the campaign and raise awareness of the amazing work our foster carers do when they welcome children and young people into their families.
More children need foster families
Research by the Fostering Network has found that every 20 minutes a child comes into care needing a foster family in the United Kingdom. It is estimated that around 65,000 children are living with 55,000 foster families. In fact over 8,000 new foster families are needed in the next year to meet children's needs across the country.
David Stringfellow, Director of Commissioning and Corporate parenting at Birmingham Children’s Trust, said:
"We are very fortunate to have passionate, caring and devoted foster carers here in Birmingham who are helping to change the lives of children on a daily basis. What we need is more foster carers because we have children waiting for the love, care and safe family environment that foster carers provide."
Foster with us
We need foster families for children in Birmingham. In particular, we are are looking for families to care for older children and young people, as well as carers who can help brothers and sisters stay together by welcoming more than one child into their family.
Foster carers come from a wide range of backgrounds and we welcome anyone who is interest in fostering to contact us today.
