Essential Digital Skills

The WEA will be running Essential Digital Skills Qualifications (EDSQ) at Entry Level 3 and Level 1 at the Dolphin Women’s Centre in Birmingham this year.

On these courses you will learn how to:

  • Use different digital devices
  • Search for and use information on the internet
  • Be safe and responsible online
  • Communicate socially and professionally using email, messaging and social media
  • Access and use online services

If you are interested, the first step is to book an initial assessment at the Dolphin Centre. Following a successful assessment, you will be invited to join our EDSQ Information and Study Skills course to prepare for the qualification courses which will start in September 2024.

Your IT skills will need to be at entry Level 2 or above to join this course.

When: Thursday 6 June and Thursday 20 June between 9:30am - 12:30pm (you must attend both sessions)

Where: Dolphin Women’s Centre, Ward End Park, Washwood Heath Road, Birmingham B8 2HB

To take part, book an appointment with the Dolphin Centre (0121 326 8343) to do a short assessment and enrol on Thursday May 23 between 10:00am - 2:00pm.

Please bring the following evidence with you:

  • Proof of ID (e.g. Passport, driving licence, residence card, UK Biometric Residence Permit )
  • Proof of Residency Status in the UK (e.g. Passport, driving licence, residence card, UK Biometric Residence Permit, birth certificate)
  • Proof of your address (e.g. driving licence, an official letter dated in the last 3 months with your name on it)
  • Proof of any benefits you are receiving (e.g. Your Universal Credit App, an official benefit letter dated in the last 3 months)
  • Your National Insurance Number

WEA courses are for learners aged 19+ and are free if you are in receipt of a work-related benefit or if you work and earn less than £30,000. They can also support you to apply for a discretionary free course if your household income is less than £21,000 per year.
