Youth Justice Service - Restorative Practice

Who are we and who do we work with?

The Youth Justice Service Restorative Practice Team

We are the Restorative Practice Team and sit within Birmingham Youth Justice Service.

  • The Restorative Practice team are made up of Restorative Support Specialists. They work directly with both victims and those most affected by Youth Crime and children responsible for the harm caused.
  • We are a centralised team in Birmingham and work across the city.
  • The service is a Statutory offer, we support The Code of Practice for Victims of Crime in England and Wales which details the Rights of Victims.

The Birmingham Youth Justice Service is part of the local authority.

In Birmingham, we are part of children’s social care services, called Birmingham Children’s Trust.

We are separate from the Courts and the Police.

We work with:

  • Health services.
  • Education and Schools.
  • The Police.
  • Probation.
  • Charities and the local community.

Who do we work with?

We are committed to supporting those affected by youth crime and can work with all consenting victims where a child has an outcome from court or an Out of Court Disposal.

Below you can watch a video about the court process. This video is aimed at young people.
