What if you don’t get a response to your letter?
If a letter has not arrived three weeks after the month agreed, let us know and we’ll send a reminder. We’ll ask if there is any reason for not complying with the arrangement.
- Our experience tells us that birth family and adoptive family circumstances may mean they ‘dip in and out of contact’ at different stages of life. A flexible approach towards contact can still have long term benefits for the child(ren)
- Even if letters are not received regularly, it’s still good to keep to your side of the arrangement. We keep copies of all letters on the child’s adoption file
- Occasionally the contact arrangements may not be kept up . If this happens keep us updated with your contact details and changes in your life that may be helpful. We keep copies of all letters on the child’s adoption file
If contact stops completely for whatever reason, the option to restart is always available up to when the child reaches 18 years old. Just let us know.
