Trust colleagues attend Parliament following Social Worker of the Year Award wins

Published: 20th Mar 2026

Four Birmingham Children's Trust staff members were invited to the Houses of Parliament to celebrate our recent award wins at the Social Worker of the Year Awards.

On Thursday, Andrea Bassi, Adam Birchall, Enyi Lloyd-Uzoegbu and Florence Worley visited the Houses of Parliament for a honorary reception in recognition of the Trust's two award wins in October last year.

At the Social Worker of the Year Awards annual event, which celebrates excellence in social work at every level, Andrea was named Children's Social Worker of the Year, while the Trust itself won Supportive Social Work Employer for 2025.

As a result, Adam, Andrea, Florence and Enyi (from left to right, pictured below) were welcomed at Parliament, all looking resplendent in the spring sunshine. Just click on the photo to enlarge.

Along with tea, sandwiches and cake, our Trust representatives received the following letter from Josh MacAlister OBE MP, Minister for Children and Families, offering congratulations and stating: “Your commitment to the profession, and the skill and compassion with which you carry out your work, exemplifies the very best of social care.”

"It was truly inspiring to see so many dedicated practitioners celebrated at the ceremony, and I am pleased that your efforts have been recognised at a national level. Social work is a demanding and often complex profession. It requires resilience, judgement, and deep personal commitment, particularly when supporting individuals and families through challenging circumstances. I have seen first-hand the transformative impact that social workers like you have on communities across the country, and I want to express my gratitude for the difference you make."

Well done and congratulations once again to Adam, Andrea, Enyi and Florence.
