Access to adoption records

I do not know where my adoption records are held

Please contact the General Registry Office (GRO) and they will send your birth details to the appropriate Local Authority Adoption Service.

The GRO will write to you when this has been done and confirm details of your Local Authority Adoption Service.

If you are notified that your records are with Birmingham,

or call us on 0121 303 1010 between Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

If your records are held with another Local Authority Adoption Agency, the contact details will be on your letter and you will need to contact them.
