Independent Visitors (IV's)

  • Independent Visitors are for children in Birmingham’s care who are between the ages of 8-17.
  • An Independent Visitor is just what we call someone who volunteers their time to get to know a child or young person, and spends time with them and try new activities.
  • IV's visit their matched child or young person either at home, or somewhere agreed, on a regular basis and enjoy an activity together such as; (bowling, football, park, or rock climbing).
  • In Birmingham IV's are matched with children and young people who have little or no contact with their birth families, or if your social worker thinks you would benefit from having an IV in some way. However it's completely your choice.
