New Director of Commissioning and Corporate Parenting announced

Birmingham Children’s Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of David Stringfellow as Director of Commissioning and Corporate Parenting.

David has been the Trust’s Interim Director of Commissioning and Corporate Parenting since 1 April 2019. Prior to that he had senior roles with Dudley Children’s Services and, more recently, with Oldham Children’s Services as the Director of Children's Social Care and Early Help. He has steered services through major inspections and led on transformation and change. In 2014-15 he was with Birmingham Children’s Services, initially as Head of Service and then as a strategic programme lead.

David is a qualified social worker who has developed strong foundations and a good understanding of social work. 

Appointment

David impressed throughout the competitive selection process. At his interview, the panel included young people from the Birmingham’s Children in Care Council and Care Leavers’ Forum and partners from Birmingham City Council, West Midlands Police and Birmingham Safeguarding Children Partnership.

Andrew Christie, Chair of the Trust, said: “I am so pleased that David Stringfellow will be joining the Trust as Director of Commissioning and Corporate Parenting.  I have great confidence in the Trust's senior team to provide the leadership we need to take us through the next stage of our improvement journey, to a point where we will be judged to be ‘Good’ by Ofsted."

David said: "I am delighted and privileged to be given this opportunity to join at a great time and help drive the ambitions of the Trust."  

We are  thrilled to now have a permanent and highly effective team of directors. With David joining Lee Yale-Helms, Jenny Turnross and Andy Couldrick, we are confident that we will go from strength to strength.
