You can adopt!

Published: 16th Sep 2020

We’re proud to be taking part in the national #YouCanAdopt campaign.

In the UK, there are almost 3,000 children that need an adoptive family but the number of adoptions in England has fallen by a third in four years. To help tackle this, the new #YouCanAdopt campaign will dispel myths around who is eligible to adopt and encourage anyone who is thinking about adoption to find out more.

#YouCanAdopt

Earlier this year, a new report revealed that 43% adults in the West Midlands have considered adoption or would consider adoption in future. Unfortunately, most adults do not feel they know much about the adoption process or even if they can adopt.

The feeling of finally becoming a mother was almost indescribable

The #YouCanAdopt campaign aims to make sure more people know that adoption is a realistic option for them, that it doesn’t have to be a long process and that they are ‘good enough’ to adopt! So long as you have love to give, patience and a safe home then adoption could be open to you.

If you’re thinking about adoption you’ve already taken the first step

The campaign features real adopters to give an insight into what being an adoptive family means.

Sinitta, mum of two, explains what adoption means to her, “I would definitely encourage others to consider adoption. The feeling of finally becoming a mother was almost indescribable; it's just everything. It was everything I wanted and more.”
